Youngwan Kim is currently serving as Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Los Angeles. CG Kim passed the High Diplomatic Service Exam and joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1993. He served as First Secretary at the Korean Embassy in the United States., Counsellor at the Korean Embassy in the Republic of Iraq and the People’s Republic of China, Foreign Policy Advisor to the Minister of Unification, and Director of the Korean Peninsula Peace Regime Division. During 2014 and 2017, he was Panel of Experts of the UN Security Council Sanctions Committee. Thereafter, he served as Director-General for the Planning and Management at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and for the Foreign Affairs and National Security Policy Bureau of the Office for Government Policy Coordination.   

He holds a M.A. in International Relations from the University of Virginia, and a B.A. in Political Science and International Relations from Yonsei University.
